Did you Catch a Leprechaun?

title

Hey, happy day after St. Patties Day.  I hope all made it home safely.  As you know, I have tried several times to catch Santa, the Tooth Fairy (she is a sly one), the easter Bunny (he is just plain mean) and a leprechaun.

Well last night, just before bar close, I met up with one, we had some drinks, told some stories and I thought all was good.  My plan was to get him to my house, tie him up and make him give me my new found gold.

Um, not really sure where and what went wrong, but woke up this morning to an empty liquor cabinet, empty fridge and the above picure.

Trust me people, I can’t stress this enough….  Don’t ever, ever party with a leprechaun (or for that matter any of these holiday creatures).  I won’t give up on my quest to capture them, but with each failure I learn something new about them, so in time, I will finish this quest or have enough knowledge to pass on to my children so they can finish it.

Remember, failure isn’t the end, but we need to learn from it, pick ourselves up (buy more liquor and food) and move forward with what we now know.

Being different is something to be proud of.

title

Hey, if you have met me, you know I am not normal.  I kinda live outside the box for the most part.  Growing up, I used humor to get me through many things, and I always tried to be just ME.

Everyone of us is different, but I do remember wanting to “fit in” with a certain crowd, group or person.  I know I have pretended to be something else to fit it and I am sure you have too.  But its really hard to “pretend” to be someone other that who you are isn’t it.

Why work that hard, in the end, your true self will always come out.  If you accept, love and embrace your true self, you will be amazed at where you fit in.  Being different is fine, being yourself is great.  Imagine not worrying about what others think of you, doing what makes you happy, and well singing your song out loud.

Yes, I have scared many people through my years, people know I am harmless, but some do find me quite annoying at times.  I do sing, dance and act out often, but I don’t worry about what others think.  Thats the key.

Be yourself, act like yourself and enjoy yourself.

Finding PASSION

title

Is just 14 inches.  From the heart to the head….(Thanks Jodi for posting pic).

Wow, thats a great subject for today huh?  I am sure most of you are groggy and tired from the beloved TIME CHANGE (we lost an hour if you didnt know).

But, having a dream or goal is usually set in the mind (head).  Getting to the action on making that happen often takes a lot of HEART.  So how do we tie these two together to make those dreams and goal happen?

PRACTICE….

Yes, practice, vision and purpose will help get the heart going on your dreams.  If you goal is a good one  (good for you and all others), you can instill passion, purpose and a vision to help enlist your heart.  I think if your heart and head are both in it, we can call it PASSION.  Once you have a passion, getting the needed things done to move you forward towards your goal is much easier.

So, find a way to develop PASSION and you will see your heart and head are both on the same page.

Snow Day….

titleHey, first real snowstorm of the year for us, and its March……  I am going home to take the kids sledding before heading to the office.  Work needs to happen, but play MUST happen too.

Some people aren’t fortunate enough to live in the upper midwest and have snow days, but you can’t have everything I guess.

Overnight we got a fresh 8+” of snow, everything, I mean everything is bright WHITE.  Beautiful, a fresh canvas to start the day.  Now, I got the driveway done, waiting till 7:30am so the neighbors don’t bitch.  My boys came out to help shortly after that.  They really aren’t much help, but oh its fun to watch them work around the snow.  They dug my van out, then proceeded to go make their mark all over the fresh canvas of snow.  Front and backyard now has snow angles, boot tracks and more.

How do you find your fresh canvas?  For me, its Mondays.  I love them, a whole new week of possibilities, challenges, decisions, etc..   But thats me, what do you do to get yourself focused?  A fresh canvas allows you to see only your goals, dreams and the things to come.  I think its needed quite often in this age, too many distractions, they take our focus away from where we want to go.

So, if you can’t do Mondays, find something that works for you to get that FRESH CANVAS and get your focus back.

How Creative Are You?

titleLook at the picture above, thats creative thinking that solved a simple problem and made someone happy.

Thats what we are here for people, to create.  Whether its a vaccine that cures AIDS, a picture that makes people cry, a warm toilet seat to comfort someone.  We are creative creatures, we do it everyday with our decisions and choices.  So, lets spend some time making great choices that help others to be happier and feel more alive.

All of us, yes, all of us have the ability, but some choose to make others sad, unhappy and down right miserable.  Its a choice people, choose to change and think differently.  If you smile, the people that see your smile change, its science, chemicals are released in their bodies, change happens for the good.

If you provide create negative things, thoughts, actions, etc..  Negative things follow.  If we create positive things, thoughts and actions, positive stuff happens.

We aren’t here long enough to spend the whole time suffering, its an easy choice, maybe its a hard job, but and easy choice to try and create positive change.

Guess What?

titleNo matter how sad you are, there are others with much worse problems than yours.  Stop feeling sorry for yourself and find a better way to live.

Yes, you could be a T-Rex who has to make beds, or you could be the guy who gives elephants enemas, your life isn’t as bad as you think, trust me…

So, finding a positive in a bunch of negatives may not be easy, but its doable.  Look at your life, what you do for others, those who love you, those who depend on you…  You will find those positive if you are seeking them.  You can’t say no one loves you, because I do, you can’t say you don’t do things for others either (if you work in service, you help others), people depend on you, even if you don’t realize it.  Maybe its just someone who secretly waits to see you at the coffee shop every morning, or someone at work?  There are positives in everything, you just have to open your mind and find them.

So, its monday morning, how is your week going to go?  The correct answer is AWESOME!!!!  Yes, I grew up in the 80′s.  LOL

The Fence

Read this for the first time this morning.   Thanks Scooter….

title

The Fence

There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily, gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence.

Finally the day came when the boy didn’t lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.

The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said “you have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one.” You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won’t matter how many times you say I’m sorry, the wound is still there. Make sure you control your temper the next time you are tempted to say something you will regret later.

Take One, I Dare You….

title Those that know me personally, know I love taking chances, A LOT of THEM..  Taking one may be scary, but not taking one can be much worse.  How many times have you regretted not taking that chance.  Whether it was asking out that girl, taking that job, joining a team, etc..???

I learned a long time ago, that when I didn’t take the chance, I ended up spending too much time wondering about what might have been.  That sucks BTW!!!

So, if taking a chance, or two or three is whats necessary to get you to where you want to be, DO IT!!  Just take a deep breath, exhale and DO IT!!!

You won’t regret taking a chance any where near as much as not taking that chance, I promise.   Now, be smart about it, take the chances you need to to get where you want to go, don’t hurt others along the way and look for ways to help others move towards their goals too.  That is how its done.

Stop Bit$#ing about you Job.

titleIf you think your job is hard, take a look above.  125 years ago, these men cut down THIS tree with THAT saw.  They then proceeded to cut THAT tree in to 25 foot sections so the train could take one section on each car.

If you complain about your job, QUIT!  That is not where you belong.  You need to find a JOB that you enjoy, take pride in and actually are productive.  Sure, you may need to take a job in the mean time, but find one that instills some sort of confidence, pride or fun.

Being unhappy is for the most part your fault, if you aren’t happy, change what you can and become happy….

Fake it till you make it..

titleHey, if you aren’t the person you want to be, the old saying “Fake it till you make it” is worth exploring.  A positive mental attitude leads to a positive mental attitude.

You need to have the confidence and self worth to drive towards your dream, if you don’t, maybe there are issues you need to resolve before you can move forward??  Mental issues are not my thing, if you don’t like who you are, you may need to figure out why that is first, before you can move into the person you want to be.  But, pretending to be that person you want to be, may in deed be enough to get you onto your next level.  Finding courage, leadership and self esteem can sometimes be as easy as taking that first step.  I was talking with my 6yo about overcoming fear, fear is good, but only if you can face it with real or fake courage…  I talked with her about how she over came her fear (or rather just closed her eyes and jumped) of the diving board.  I reminded her of how my fun she would be missing out on if she had never taken that leap for the first time.

She understands it, but will still struggle with it in certain scenerios.  So, how about you?  What fear is stopping you?  Maybe Fake it Till you Make it will work.  Can’t hurt to try right?
